War in Ukraine: Zelensky expected this Sunday in Paris to meet Macron
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected this Sunday at the end of the day in Paris, where he will be received by Emmanuel Macron. According to our information, the two men must have dinner together, and make possible announcements at the end of this whirlwind visit, three months later Volodymyr Zelensky’s first visit to Paris. This meeting had been under discussion for several days.
The Ukrainian head of state will thus complete a mini-European tour which will have taken him to Italy on Saturday, where he met the President and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, then Pope Francis. This Sunday, he was welcomed in Berlin by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the latter uring him of Germany’s support as long as the conflict lasts.
Volodymyr Zelensky took the opportunity to once again ask Germany to support the delivery of combat aircraft, uring that Ukraine “does not attack Russian territory”. “We are currently working on the creation of a coalition of combat aircraft. I will also ask Germany to support Ukraine in this coalition,” he added, as Berlin has so far refused to deliver planes directly to Ukraine. He has also shown himself to be open to peace “discussions” but “only” on kyiv’s terms.
On the 445th day of the war triggered by the Russian invasion, Volodymyr Zelensky wants to ensure the support of his European allies to carry out his great spring counter-offensive, announced for weeks. “Mentally, we are ready. In terms of motivating our military, we are ready. As for the numbers in our brigades, we are ready. As for the equipment, everything has not yet arrived”, he explained Thursday in an interview with the BBC.
