He slipped away on tiptoe on the evening of Sunday April 10, swept away in the first round of the presidential election with only 4.63% of the vote. Like the other competitors on the left, Yannick Jadot could not resist the steamroller of the “useful vote” in favor of Jean-Luc Mélenchon. Very discreet since, entrenched in the European Parliament, the ecologist seeks to get back in the saddle. The strict internal rules of Europe Écologie-Les Verts prevent him from running for a fourth term during the European elections of 2024. After the presidential election, he could logically have claimed the mandate of deputy. The ecologist says, however, that he did not push for a constituency during the Nupes negotiations.
“I did not see myself on a common platform with Jean-Luc Mélenchon after his positions on Ukraine and after everything that we had put on during the presidential campaign. But I went to support a lot of candidates!” he recalls. Yannick Jadot now has another plan…
