The French lost in the -78 kg final against the Israeli Inbar Lanir, in Doha.
Frenchwoman Audrey Tcheuméo won the silver medal in the -78 kg category on Friday at the World Judo Championships in Doha.
Tcheuméo, 33, lost by ippon in the final against the Israeli Inbar Lanir, 7th in the world.
The double Olympic medalist had not participated in the Worlds since 2018.
It brings to the French delegation a fifth medal since the beginning of these Worlds.
Exempted from the first round, the French had started with a sluggish fight against the Colombian Brenda Olaya before gaining momentum.
In the third round, the native of Bondy ipponized Belarusian Darya Kantsavaya in just twenty seconds. She was then impressive in the quarter-finals against the Japanese Olympic champion Shori Hamada.
She reached the final thanks to a victory by waza-ari against the Dutch Guusje Steenhuis.
Even if she was extremely disappointed with her defeat in the final, Tcheuméo is back in the race for the 2024 Olympics at the right time after a black hole of several years which had caused her to miss the Tokyo Games.
