Soren Kragh Andersen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) wins Eschborn-Frankfurt, Nacer Bouhanni caught in a fall
Revelation of the Tour de France 2020, with two stage victories under the colors of Sunweb, Soren Kragh Andersen had somewhat disappeared from the landscape since. This Monday, he found the taste of success, three years after his last victory (a stage of the BinckBank Tour in October 2020), during the German cl***ic Eschborn-Frankfurt.
The Dane (28), a member of the Alpecin-Deceuninck team since this winter, won in a group of ten riders, ahead of Patrick Konrad (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Alessandro Fedeli (Q36.5). These men had taken advantage of a more difficult course this year to slip away from the peloton, where Arnaud De Lie’s Lotto-Dstny and Michael Matthews’ Jayco-AlUla were riding.
Despite the attacks in the final (Intermarché Zimmermann and Rota, Hirschi of UAE Emirates), Kragh Andersen was able to show his power. At the head of the group, he launched the sprint almost 300 meters from the finish and was never caught. The Dane thus confirms his renewal after an encouraging spring, he who had finished 5th Milan – San Remo.
