The LFP Disciplinary Committee sanctioned the use of pyrotechnic devices which led to an interruption of the match against Rennes.

One of the stands of the Montpellier stadium will be closed until the end of the season following incidents which occurred during the victory against Rennes (1-0) during the 32nd day of Ligue 1, announced Wednesday evening the Professional Football League (LFP). The LFP Disciplinary Committee, which sanctioned the use of pyrotechnic devices which led to the interruption of the match, decided to close “for two firm matches and one suspended match the Etang de Thau stand at the Stade de la Mosson“.

The Montpellier team will therefore be deprived of some of its supporters against Lorient (35th day) then against Nice (37th), the last two matches of the season that it will play at home.

On April 23, when Montpellier and Rennes were tied 0-0, smoke bombs were lit in the Etang de Thau stand around the 20th minute of play, forcing the game to be interrupted for a few minutes. This stand had just been reopened after six closing matches sanctioning the deployment of ****phobic banners in mid-January during the reception of Nantes.
