Macron in Lyon: the ban on demonstrating again challenged by the CGT
New judicial round between the State and the opponents of pension reform. The CGT du Rhône announces this Sunday an appeal against the establishment of a perimeter banning demonstrations during the visit of President Emmanuel Macron scheduled for Monday in Lyon.
The CGT departmental union of the Rhône and the metropolis of Lyon had called for a rally to commemorate the social heritage of the Resistance on May 8 near the site where the President of the Republic is to go, in the district of Montluc .
But this gathering cannot take place, the prefecture of the Rhône having announced on Friday the establishment of a security perimeter with, in particular, the prohibition of “processions, parades and protest rallies”.
“An appeal is pending against this ban,” the union said in a statement. If it is lifted, the rally will take place at Parc Montluc. Otherwise, it will take place a few blocks away, he said.
Precedents for suspended bans
The Head of State is to preside over a ceremony in tribute to the French Resistance and to Jean Moulin as the 80th anniversary of his arrest by the Gestapo approaches.
Another demonstration against the pension reform on Saturday afternoon in Lyon had also been banned by the prefecture. But the administrative court of Lyon, seized by the organizers, had finally authorized it. Surrounded by a large police force, it gathered some 650 people.
In recent weeks, appeals have also multiplied against the various bans on gatherings, in particular during trips by the President of the Republic. At the end of April, several ***ociations, including the League of Human Rights, had thus obtained the suspension of the prefectural decree which banned demonstrations in a large area in Vendômein Loir-et-Cher, where Emmanuel Macron was visiting.
A few hours later, the prefect of Doubs had, him, withdrew its decree which prohibited gatherings around the presidential visit of Emmanuel Macron planned in La-Cluse-et-Mijoux, at the Château de Joux.
