Dutchwoman Charlotte Kool won the second stage of the Tour of Spain in a sprint on Tuesday.

Dutch Charlotte Kool (Team DSM) won in the bunch sprintthe second stage of the Tour of Spain women Tuesday between Orihuela and Pilar de la Horadada, his fellow member of the Jumbo formation Marianne Vos keeping the controls in the general cl***ification.

Despite an attack in the last few hundred meters from American Chloé Dygert, third on the line, it was Kool, 23, who was the strongest in the sprint, raising her arms for the third time since the start. of the season, after his two stage victories at the Tour of the United Arab Emirates in February.

The stage, which included only one listed difficulty (the San Miguel de Salinas p***, fourth category, about twenty kilometers from the finish), was marked by a breakaway of four riders (Andrea Casagrande, Catalina Anais Soto, Iurani Blanco and Coralie Demay).

The French Demay and the Spaniard Blanco were the last to be swallowed up by the peloton, 38 kilometers from the line.

And in the final, Dygert, again her, flanked by Riejanne Markus, tried to respond to Demi Vollering’s attack, but all of them ended up being caught.

Thanks to the victory of her team on Monday during the inaugural team time trial, it is therefore Marianne Vos, second on the line on Tuesday, who becomes leader in the general cl***ification.

On Wednesday, the peloton will roam south-eastern Spain in a 157.8 kilometer long third stage between Elche de la Sierra and La Roda.
