Kevin Durant and Nike are for life. The Phoenix Suns winger announced on Friday the signing of a lifetime contract with the swoosh brand, his equipment supplier since his arrival in the NBA in 2007. The amount of this new agreement is still unknown.
When he signed his first contract, the Washington native was a promising 18-year-old rookie, selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in second position. Four championship titles and thirteen All-Star Games later, he becomes the third basketball player to commit to the brand for life, after Michael Jordan and LeBron James. “When I first signed with Nike, I could never have imagined how big this partnership would grow”testified the player in a statement.
Nike and Kevin Durant have released fifteen signature shoes together, and a sixteenth is in the works. The American company is also committed to supporting the athlete’s charities, in particular by helping him to renovate basketball courts in disadvantaged communities.
