In a Hemicycle still marked by the fight for pensions, the day reserved for the texts of the communist group, Thursday, May 4, at the National ***embly, once again illustrated the gaping gap between the relative majority of Emmanuel Macron and all of the opposition groups. At the Palais-Bourbon, the Communist deputies p***ed two bills, one repealing the suspension of caregivers not vaccinated with Covid-19 and the second aimed at “ protect the Electricité de France group [EDF] of a dismemberment”.

The Communists received each time the support of the other components of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes), the National Rally (RN), the Republicans (LR) and the elected representatives of the heterogeneous group Liberté, independents, overseas and territories (LIOT). On the other hand, they failed to have their motion for a resolution adopted condemning “Israel’s institutionalization of an apartheid regime”.

While a parliamentary niche day usually ends at midnight, the session had to be interrupted around 11 p.m. “serious discomfort” of an official of the institution in the Hemicycle during a suspension of the session, informed the perch the President of the National ***embly, Yaël Braun-Pivet. Once his “stabilized state”it was taken care of immediately by the emergency services, before being evacuated to the hospital, said the elected representative of Yvelines.

A few minutes before this tragedy, the debates had turned sour between the Communist deputies and those of the Renaissance presidential group, accused by all the oppositions of having used obstruction maneuvers to slow down the debates and prevent the vote on the proposal communist law aimed at indexing the overall operating grant, paid by the State to local authorities, to inflation. In addition to the forty sub-amendments tabled by the Macronist deputies on the text a few minutes before its examination, the ministers of the economy, Bruno Le Maire, and of public accounts, Gabriel Attal succeeded each other for more than an hour at the tribune of the Hemicycle to express their opposition to a measure deemed too costly.

“Disregard for Parliament”

“If I have to spend two hours on public finances, I won’t hesitate to do so. At 2.7 billion euros, I can talk for a very long time”, even quipped the Bercy tenant in the face of ulcerated left-wing elected officials. “We started the debate on pensions by saying: ‘we pity you.’ This evening, noting your lack of majority, we can say that you are pitiful “lambasted the communist deputy for Seine-Maritime, Sébastien Jumel, going so far as to denounce a “ministerial verbal diarrhea”. “This way of proceeding is a contempt of Parliament”he concluded, before the session degenerated and was interrupted for the last time of the evening.
