PORTRAIT – As the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans approaches, the man who created one of the jewels of French motorsport fifty years ago is far from hanging up.

In Signes (Var), on the edge of the Le Castellet racing circuit, Hugues de Chaunac’s office is well filled: sections, photos, models, a helmet… Certainly a tiny part of a little treasure am***ed over the past fifty years already, at the head of his company Oreca: the man is a recognized figure in motor sports, team manager at his beginnings in 1973 before broadening his palette with the sale of specialized products, events and above all the construction of racing cars, this kind of machine capable of exceeding 300 km / hour.
