The Italian Enea Bastianini will not be at the start of the French MotoGP Grand Prix, at Le Mans, on May 14, which he had won last year. His Ducati team announced his withdrawal on Friday due to a shoulder injury contracted at the end of March on the Portimao circuit, during the sprint of the Portuguese Grand Prix, the first meeting of the season.

The 3rd in the MotoGP championship in 2022 missed the first four rounds of the season (Portugal, Argentina, Americas, Spain) due to his broken shoulder blade. He had tried to return last week for the Spanish Grand Prix, before give up after a few laps during free practice because of the pain.

His compatriot Danilo Petrucci, former driver of the Italian manufacturer between 2015 and 2020, will replace him on the Bugatti circuit, where he had signed one of his two MotoGP victories in 2020.
