COUNTERPOINT – On the universal national service project, says SNU, Emmanuel Macron is cautious.
2022 campaign promise, pension reform was adopted a year later. Promise of the 2017 campaign, will universal national service be generalized before the end of this mandate? And “obligatory”, as the candidate Macron had initially committed to it? The Head of State remains as active on the project as he is cautious about the timetable and the terms.
“We must gradually go to more territories that will adopt it“, declared Emmanuel Macron last week again, in front of the readers of the Parisianwarning that we could notmake it mandatory nationwide overnight“. The obligation is therefore not abandoned, but it is not scheduled. The only certainty: the SNU will not be registered in the military programming law voted on June 6, and its generalization will not be for the next school year either.
